Les Miserables~see it for the first time or see it again~Academy of Music, Jan. 2-13

I wish I had time to go see this show. I saw it 10 or 15 years ago, whenever it was on Broadway, I guess that was the mid-1990s. Sure, so the movie just came out and it’s getting great reviews. I still don’t think there’s anything like live theater. For me, it’s not even comparing apples to apples. Movies and live theater and just so different that I don’t think a movie can ever compare to seeing it live.

And once again, we are so lucky to have it coming here to Philadelphia. After the holiday season, it can be sort of a letdown–you know, with all your parties and events coming to a screeching halt. So why not give yourself something to look forward to, and something as cool as seeing Les Mis live! Whether it’s your first time seeing it live or you are seeing it again, it’s a great show, one that you won’t forget.

To get tickets, just visit the Academy of Music website. If Les Mis doesn’t fit into your schedule, check out what else they have to offer. I saw the Nutcracker a few weeks ago and it was fantastic. I’m going to go see Cirque Eloize iD tomorrow and I’ve heard great things about that too. And seeing a live show doesn’t have to break the bank, tickets start at $25. Or, check out Kimmel Center Presents.

Kimmel Center Presents
Kimmel Center Presents is pleased to offer a limited number of $10 tickets to select shows. For events in Verizon Hall and Perelman Theater, rush tickets go on sale at the Kimmel Center Box Office (Broad and Spruce Streets) at 5:30pm for evening performances and 11:30am for matinees. For events at the Merriam Theater (250 S. Broad Street) and the Academy of Music (240 S. Broad Street), rush tickets go on sale at each venue’s box office two hours prior to curtain.

Another way to save money is to buy a package or season or membership of tickets. With so many great shows coming this year, will be well worth it!

QVC store at Prices Corner is closing~my Fashion Friday finds, 6 items for $51!

Today I had a few hours to myself and some returns to do at Sears and JCPenney, so I headed down to Prices Corner. While I’m down there, I always like to take a spin in the QVC store, I’m actually a fan! Sure, they’re sorta known for their cult-like following and quirky items, but you can find good stuff too. I was surprised to find the Prices Corner QVC store loaded with “this store is closing” signs. Bummer. Now my next closest stores will either be Frazier or Rockvale/Lancaster, and both of those are at least 45 minutes from me, and Prices Corner is only 15 or so. Unless I have work up in those areas, I just won’t be getting to QVC that much anymore.

So the bad news is, the store is closing. The good news is…..great sales and Dooney and Bourke is 50% off!

QVC.com

All handbags are 60% off, Dooney and Bourke is 50% off. I saw this one, and it’s ‘my color’ as I have a ton of stuff in that cornflower blue color, but I decided to pass.

This Dooney and Bourke bag was $125. Click to see more.

But, I did ‘splurge’ on this bag, just $15! Color is a step out of the box for me, but I really liked it, it’s washable suede and supposedly brightly colored handbags are in.

Great buy!

I ended up getting 6 things, and spending $51. My favorite find was this type of bubble necklace. The picture doesn’t do it justice, it’s much prettier in person. It was reduced to $19.60, then 60% off!

It’s so much prettier in person!

I got a purse, two necklaces, a cute pair of sweats (I know! but I couldn’t resist, they were so cheap!), and two tops. All for $51. I was pleased with my buys because they are nice things that I think I will wear often, even the sweats, ha.

Oh, and when is the QVC store at Prices Corner closing? I was told January 12 is their last day.
